Did you know today is National Mulled Wine Day? Well, now you know.

The mulled wine is a beverage that consists of red wine, spices and fruit. A very common feature of the mulled wine is that it is served hot or warm; hence, it is ideal for the cold weather.

There are various versions of it, different recipes and twists, especially with the spices used. The mulled wine can also be alcoholic or non-alcoholic.

  • 1 orange, sliced and seeded
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 bottle red wine


  • Combine the orange, sugar, water, and spices in a large stainless steel or enameled pot.
    Slowly bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Reduce the heat, add the wine, and slowly reheat but do not boil.
  • Serve warm in mugs.
